America Constitution Day

This is an interesting news I shared from SAIC E-mail. The school send out this information for educational purposes, in pedagogical system. This video is very important to America citizen and as well as to the others, it provides the history of the authority power structure and the democratic practice in the U.S. The constitution of American turns out as an historical influential element in human civilization. By the time change, does this system and role still work for current social situation? This video was very well animated and structured, with the music background was direct the whole video in, and well balancing in a great educational tool to public.

This is the Email:
"September 17 is Constitution Day across the United States. On this day, all educational institutions receiving federal funding are required to provide educational resources and programs on the United States Constitution. In observance of Constitution Day, SAIC has prepared these resources for you. Follow this link to view a video about the Constitution. This video, The Constitution Project, examines the origins of the Constitution and highlights the conflicts related to the political beginnings of the United States of America. SAIC dedicates our observance of Constitution Day to the memory of George H. Roeder, Jr. professor of Liberal Arts and founding Chair of Visual and Critical Studies. Roeder was an exemplary citizen and student of the U.S. Constitution who had a significant impact on the work and lives of hundreds of SAIC students and faculty. Roeder was keenly interested in the sensory dimensions of history, in particular history as conveyed through the visual. He studied the history of censorship, and in particular, the manipulation and selective presentation of visual information during times of war. Roeder believed that, "The measure of a just and free society is perhaps defined more clearly in its treatment of its minority conscience than in the grander dreams, aspirations and plans of its majority." (Roeder, Lecture Notes). In his book, The Censored War, he wrote, "Not even the Constitution could restrain the imperative to maintain clear distinctions between enemy and ally. The government violated at least half of the ten amendments comprising the Bill of Rights with its decision to remove Americans of Japanese ancestry, the majority of them U.S. citizens, from the communities where they lived and worked, and to place them in guarded camps in sparsely inhabited areas of the West." "Be an open-eyed believer building faith in a meaningful universe, dignity and delight." George H. Roeder, Jr. If you would like additional resources on the U.S. Constitution, or if you would like additional information on Constitution Day, please use the following resources:http://www.saic-media.net/video/saicmedia_video.php?vFile=portal/life/2009_constitutional

  1. thanks for sharing, chia chen! really interesting videos, and to be totally honest, i did not spend the time looking at this when it passed through my email box.

Do you think this was the best delivery method for a tool like this? Is it just a formality that the school is fulfilling? How might they have made it more engaging and better delivered?
